Interesting and informative article taken from the BBC website details how the Greater London Authority and Hackney Council overrode opposition to a tower development in Shoreditch.

We were heard first and the hearing/meeting lasted over two hours.  The developer was heavily represented by the architects, various experts (to comment on particular issues), and there were nice presentation boards and a large scale model of the tower (which lit up!) and the surrounding area.  There is no way that we can compete [...]

Dear Mr Fullelove,
Viva Vauxhall (residents’ association) has already written to you to object to the current Octave Tower proposal – one of our concerns being the shadow that would be cast over the surrounding streets, [...]

We think so.  Both images show Langley Lane and from a similar viewpoint.
LH one is a photo taken by a resident around 4pm in early September – and shows the sun streaming down.
RH one is a promotional picture used by the developer and with the Octave Tower superimposed – which, in late afternoon, [...]
