This makes depressing reading …

… it’s a report on the Lurking about SE11 blog from someone who attended the VNEB meeting last night:

Anyone out there who went and takes a different view?

I was there last night too.. the SE11 blogger three wheeled one was spot on.. again depressing turnout to a warm cuddly presentation by the GLA, Lambeth etc pointing to the sunny uplands..
Crucial questions went unanswered..
Who decided to put a ‘cluster’ of tall buildings on our front door?
What is the point of the consultation?
Is LBL going to make a stand against tall buildings on behalf of existing residents in their shadows and wind tunnels..i.e. US?
Is there an alternative?
Is the plan joined up thinking?
While thinking about it sign the petition against the Octave Tower

I was there and made some comments. Although I guess I qualify as one of “the local politicians” I certainly never said the plans were all inevitable; my concerns are over the density of the plans, the lack of affordable family housing, and the uncertainty and lack of clarity over things like essential community infrastructure - which should be in place in good time and not opened years afterwards.
