Mirella Laghi has been greatly comforted by the community’s response to Henri’s tragically untimely death and is very pleased that so many of us are planing to join her on Monday. As a result, the timetable has changed slightly and is now as follows.
Henri’s funeral will be held at 1100 on Monday 23 November at the Italian Church (La Chiesa del Redentore) at 20 Brixton Rd (3 minutes walk from Oval Underground). The service will be partly in Italian and partly in English. Family flowers only, please, but any donations of money at the church or otherwise will be given in Henri’s memory to a charity to be chosen by the family. The family party will then travel to the crematorium before returning to Parco Cafe where they will relax and have a drink. The wider circle of friends (that’s all of us) are cordially invited to join the family around 3.30 pm for a glass (or several) of prosecco and to join in a toast to Henri’s memory. We are then asked to fade gently from the scene by say 4 to 4.15 to allow the family and family friends to sit down to a meal.
During the interval between the end of the church service and the reception, when the family go off to the crematorium, there will be a pay bar at (underneath) the church, with light refreshments, and Mirella hopes that friends will take that opportunity to unwind and reminisce.
