Police actively target taxi touts in Vauxhall

Filed under: Crime and Anti Social Behaviour, FIRE nightclub, Langley Lane, Parking, Vauxhall Grove.

We know that residents are still complaining regularly to the anti-social report line 020 7926 4000 (see ‘noise, nuisance or anti-social behaviour’ permanent page at top) about taxi touts outside FIRE nightclub who park their vehicles in Langley Lane and Vauxhall Grove.

It’s good to learn from Princess Safer Neighbourhood Team that for the past six months the police have been working closely with the Public Carriage office and TFL Cab Enforcement team to reduce the number of illegal-minicab offences being committed in the Vauxhall area.

In the last four weeks, 12 people have been arrested for taxi touting by plain clothes teams and this line of targeting will continue over the coming months.

And over the last 3 weeks as part of a new initiative, the police together with the public carriage office have run 2 Hi-vis vehicle checks stopping over 200 Private Hire vehicles.  14 plates were seized, 6 vehicles were seized for not having insurance,  3 cab offices were reported for illegal trading and numerous other traffic offences.
