… is looking for new members and is holding an open meeting and AGM at 7.45pm on Wednesday 17 June in St Stephen’s Church Annexe (corner of St Stephen’s Terrace and Wilkinson Street, SW8 1DH).
The Vauxhall Society seeks to encourage interest in the character, history and future of the area, to maintain and improve the quality of life of its residents, and to conserve the natural and built-up environment.
- It is consulted by the planning authorities and others on development proposals and it actively supports local organisations in opposing unsuitable developments.
- It consistently argues for an effective local say in local development decisions and campaigns against using our area as a fast through-route for traffic, a parking place for coaches, or proposals to develop a skyline of tall buildings blocking off the river from us.
- It continues to support successful local efforts to keep open our local libraries and to improve our parks and green spaces.
