Noise, nuisance and anti-social behaviour
by Danny - May 22nd, 2009.Filed under: Crime and Anti Social Behaviour, FIRE nightclub.
At Viva Vauxhall’s request, Anti-Social Behaviour/Lambeth Council arranged a meeting with us, Noise Control/Lambeth Council and a representative from the Police. The Police subsequently nominated Safer Neighbourhood (Police) Team as the best people to attend and they didn’t respond to the invitation. Councillor Andrew Sawden/Lib Dem also attended. The purpose of the meeting was to make it simple for local residents to report – and have logged! – low-level noise, nuisance and anti-social behaviour.
A lot of the problems around here are club-related. If you are ringing to complain about FIRE nightclub, it is important to know that its address is in Parry Street (and not South Lambeth Road).
Even if the persons causing the nuisance/disturbance have moved on – still ring and log the complaint. It is only by having calls logged that we can make the authorities sit up and take more long-term coordinated action.
These are the telephone nos. to ring and log a complaint:
020 7926 4000 for all low-level noise, nuisance and anti-social behaviour. Line open between 8am and 6pm, otherwise leave a message. You can ring the next day and log your complaint.
This line is a brand new ‘Report No.’ (’hotline’ to us) and is not shown yet on the Lambeth Council website.
020 7326 1212 or 0300 123 1212 for more serious incidents that require police attendance.
Important: in the case of an emergency or a crime in progress still ring 999 as you would normally do.
Note: These telephone numbers are listed on a ‘permanent page’ clearly shown both at the top and on the right hand side of the home page.

Hi Danny
You state here that alot of the local problems here are club related, please explain as i have experienced no problems that I can deem club related but many others.
I have had my car broken into by a group of people who had clearly not been to fire. I have also had an attempted break in through my front sash window and these burglars who i saw equipped with with a crow bar were clealy not fire regulars - i dont see the problem !!
Noise and parking seem to stem from church hall parties and not from fire regulars as i doubt they drive to the club.
Are we as concerned with the Hoist and all the other clubs in the area ?
I feel that without these clubs and the people visiting them the area would be even more desolate at night and prone to crime.
I have yet to be mugged by a group of men dressed in leather on vauxhall grove !!
Be careful what you campaign against as the alternative that you create is not always what you thought it might be !
Vauxhall is not Esher and we all knew that when we moved here !

Hello Steven,
The fact that you haven’t encountered club-related problems doesn’t mean that others haven’t. Why else did 30 people make representations when FIRE wanted to expand into adjacent arches.
When FIRE closed down for a while after having been busted for drug offences, there were no incidents. When they reopened, there were.
Yes, clubbers do drive to FIRE – whether they are FIRE regulars or not, I can’t say.
I can’t see you on our members’ distribution list. E-mail me full name, address and contact tel. nos. and I will put you on.
