The two Euro bins in Vauxhall Grove/corner of Harleyford Road
by Danny - April 29th, 2009.Filed under: Crime and Anti Social Behaviour, Vauxhall Grove.
These bins are supposed to be for the sole use of residents in Harleyford Road who don’t have their own wheelie bins.
Lambeth Council have now had enough of people misusing this facility (refer previous post 24 April) and have decided remove the bins and provide Harleyford Road residents instead with a daily black bag collection (bags to be put out on the pavement after 10pm at night and before 8am in the morning). Bins should be removed some time next week. Lambeth Council will flyer Harleyford Road residents.

What a shame that because of few, many will miss them. These bins were invaluable in keeping the area clear of rubbish.

That corner will continue to be a dumping hotspot whether there are bins there or not

At least with the bins, the problem was, to a great extent, contained (so to speak). Bags dumped on pavements on the other hand have a tendency to spill out their contents.
If that happens, I feel really sorry for the people who live straight across from where the bins are currently.
We have a thread going here
Maybe this will prove to be the ‘tipping point’ for more people to now comment on the blog.

Let’s all keep an eye on this and if problems continue to occur, speak again with the council to see if there is an alternative solution.

The entire area is a mess, slthough street cleaning has improved it is all still filthy around the grove/square in particular. It is time Lambeth took this particular area seriously, or are they expecting us to clean and hose down our own sreets now.
