New Street Lighting in Bonnington Square

It’s not difficult to see that EDF have made a start on the completion works and for those of you who are interested – these works consist of of (1) digging holes, (2) jointing, (3) back-filling, and (4) laying slabs, and all undertaken by different teams.

The seemingly ever fluid situation is now that, barring unforeseen problems, all works to the perimeter houses of Bonnington Square (where the holes have been dug) will be completed by Wednesday 4 February.

Unfortunately, we only learned today that a ‘mains fault’ has been diagnosed to the lighting circuit of the ‘island site’ (the houses forming the internal square), and that no start date has been scheduled as yet to fix this.  The old and new street lights will therefore be there together for a while yet and the only consolation to residents is that no holes have been dug and barriers erected.  Viva Vauxhall are chasing for a start date for these new works and will update the blog as soon as we know something.

Viva Vauxhall have been very active in monitoring and pushing forward the installation of the new street lighting and it has been a nightmare dealing with the main contractor, DW Lighting.  So much so that Lambeth Council are now dealing with us direct and already the information and updates coming through to us are much clearer and more precise.
